I wanted to share some encouragement, in the midst of turmoil, from my Bible Study this morning:
“God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.” Psalm 46:5
The “her” in this verse is God’s people, His church.
Are you ever guilty of thinking in a feeble, weak, frail, overcome manner? Thinking about the evil of the world around us; false gospels, materialism, consumerism, politics, cancer, Covid-19? Sometimes, it is easy to end up in a pity party that leaves us depressed.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lam. 3:22-23
“Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today” Ex.14:13b
“We need to counsel our hearts, renew our hearts in the ways of God.”- Wolgemuth
“It may not seem that He is coming to our aid immediately, but He will come. Sometimes we have to go through the night first before we get to the break of day. “- Wolgemuth
“In every situation God is doing a thousand different things that we cannot see and we do not know.” -Piper
This may be a very familiar hymn. Read it and reflect on the truth and affirmation of God dwelling among us and being our foundation.
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellence Word!
What more can He say than to you He has said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen and help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.
When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flames shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
