Christmas 2018

And the Gospel continues:

1 John 4:9-10

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 Corinthians 15:28

When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Ephesians 3:21

 To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Over the past 24 days you have seen the Gospel summarized.

“It is the incarnation, sinless life, substitutionary death, burial, bodily resurrection, ascension and eternal reign of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.”        -Elyse Fitzpatrick

My prayer has been that God’s Gospel message has effected your heart in some way.  Much love to all of you!  Merry Christmas!!!

Advent 2018 Day 23

Today’s Advent reading:

Ephesians 1:11-14

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,  so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.  In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,  who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 3:14, 17-19

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

I made a set of tags to match Holly Jolly.  I hope you enjoy today’s Advent Gift:

Advent 2018 Day 22

I apologize for being late with today’s Advent post, and tomorrow’s will be posted before lunch, but one of our sons got to come home yesterday and then, on top of that blessing, we got to have a visit with our 2 yr old grandson!  His other grandparents, from another state, traveled to bring him to our home for the first time yesterday.  I cooked a late lunch for us, and then we took him to see the Zoo Lights at our local zoo.  It was our first outing with him and well, that was my first priority.  It was such a wonderful day of making memories.  We miss our son so much, and yesterday was bittersweet and beyond precious, all at the same time.  I know some of you will understand.  Pray for us as we have our first Christmas since his death, and it is not easy.  On a good note, we were surprised with all of our other kids being able to be here for Christmas!!

While this is a celebratory time with them being here, we want to be most aware of the Light of the World that came and why we celebrate Christmas.

Here is today’s Gospel Message of Light:

Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation;  whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;  of whom shall I be afraid?

Isaiah 9:2

The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.

Isaiah 60:1, 19

Arise, shine, for your light has come,and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you….
The sun shall be no more your light by day,nor for brightness shall the moon
give you light;
but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

Malachi 4:2a

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings.

Luke 1:76-79

“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
    for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,
to give knowledge of salvation to his people
    in the forgiveness of their sins,
 because of the tender mercy of our God,
    whereby the sunrise shall visit us[a] from on high
 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
    to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

John 12:46

“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.”

1 John 1:5-9

 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.  If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Revelation 22:5

And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Father, Keep the Light of Your Son ever before us, reveal the darkness of sin in our lives, and turn our hearts away from the darkness and toward Your Light.  Amen

I hope you enjoy today’s Advent gift.  I made clusters from the Holly Jolly kit.

Advent 2018 Day 21

We are continuing the Gospel of Christ for Advent:

Romans 8:31,33

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?…Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

Isaiah 53:10-12

Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
    he has put him to grief;
when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
    he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
    make many to be accounted righteous,
    and he shall bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,
    and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
because he poured out his soul to death
    and was numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
    and makes intercession for the transgressors.

He bore my sin and yours and is now interceding with the Father on our behalf.

This is the last part of the kit, “Holly Jolly!”

Advent 2018 Day 20

May God’s Word speak to your heart today:

Romans 8:30

And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Revelation 11:15b

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”

Revelation 19:11-13

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.  His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.

Colossians 3:4

 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory

Revelation 22:1, 3-5

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb…No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.  They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.  And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Here is today’s Advent Gift.  I hope you are enjoying “Holly Jolly.”

Have a blessed Advent!

Advent 2018 Day 19

Do you have such a personal relationship with God that you can call Him, “Abba, Father?”

Do you call Jesus your Christ, your Lord?
Today’s Advent reading reminded me of Matthew 1:21:

“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

and now for today’s Bible reading:

Romans 8:15

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Philippians 2:9-11

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,  so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

EVERY knee should bow… I pray that none of you are found bowing and confessing when it is too late.

Here is today’s Advent Gift:

Advent 2018 Day 18

After Christ arose from the grave, He took His seat at the Father’s right hand. He advocates for those of us who are His heirs, and has a promise for us:

1 John 2:1b

We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Colossians 3:1

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Ephesians 2:6-7

and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,  so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Praise the Lord, Our Savior!

For today’s Advent gift, I have the next part of the Holly Jolly Kit.  I hope you are enjoying it:

Have a blessed Advent Season!

Advent 2018 Day 17

1 Corinthians 15:5a

He appeared…

John 20:29b

“…Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Acts 1:9

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

Romans 8:34

Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Here is the next part of Holly Jolly:Thumb03

Have a blessed, Happy, Scrappy Christmas!

Advent 2018 Day 16

Praying that all come to belief in Christ:

John 20:16b

John 20:25

So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

1 Corinthians 15:3b

Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures.

John 20:26b

“Peace be with you.”

1 Corinthians 15:4a

Was buried…

John 20:27b

“Do not disbelieve, but believe.”

1 Corinthians 15:4b

Was raised in accordance with Scripture

John 20:28b

“My Lord and my God!”

For today’s Advent Gift is the second submission to the kit, “Holly Jolly.”  I hope you enjoy it!

I am praying you have a blessed, happy, scrappy Christmas!

Advent 2018 Day 15 and My Memories Blog Train

For today’s Advent reading, we are continuing with the Resurrection in the Gospel of Christ:

John 20:15

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

John 20:16a

Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

Romans 8:35, 38-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Father, help us to really SEE Christ.  Encourage us through times of tribulation, distress, and persecution, times when we are in need of food and clothing, times we are in danger, that your love is with us.  Remind us none of this will separate us from Your love in Christ Jesus, our Lord.  Amen
