Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” —John 18:37
Have you ever recognized John 18 as a text for Christmas? Even though this text comes at the end of Jesus’s life, it tells us why He came to earth. The purpose of Christ coming was to establish His kingdom, not a kingdom of this world (John 18:36) but, as believers, we know it was for the eternal kingdom. Christ existed in the eternal kingdom before coming to earth. His incarnation was not of a new life, but of a life that was before creation.
About 700 years before the earthly birth of Jesus, Micah, the prophet, tells us:
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.
This child who came to earth is the One who has existed from before time began. He is the Ancient of Days, and humbled Himself by coming to earth as a baby, born of a virgin, to live a human life and take on our sin, so that we could live a life, with Him, in His eternal kingdom. Now that, my friends, is the REAL Christmas story!
Because of the past couple of days being so busy, I am including both days in today’s post. I hope you enjoy.
You can get these by clicking on the top preview (Day 18). Both kits are in one download.
Have a blessed Day!
